Hey friends! Happy Friday! How did you first week of 2016 go? I hope it was wonderful, positive and productive!
I plan to write a post similar to this each Friday – more for me than anybody else – as a way to reflect on the past week. (But, as a blog myself reader, I’m admittedly nosey and enjoy reading real life tidbits from other bloggers, so I figure some readers may enjoy this, too. Like my mom. 😉 )
Whew, it’s been a week full of exercise!
- Friday and Saturday = off days (recovery from the previous week)
- Sunday = restorative yoga
- Monday = 2 spin classes (!!) using a new routine which was especially challenging + vinyasa yoga
- Tuesday = 6 loads of laundry in the pouring rain + vinyasa yoga note: we bought a condo and said condo does not have a W/D hookup in the unit <major sad face> nor does it seem possible – we had both a plumber and electrician come out. so, i get to carry all.the.laundry. to the laundry room which is literally only a 3 minute walk, but dang, laundry is heavy and we live upstairs.
- Wednesday = this total body workout + restorative yoga
- Thursday = this HIIT workout + gentle yoga + vinyasa yoga
- Friday = heading to spin class soon! (same playlist from Monday – will share with you soon!)
I plan to take a break on Saturday. 😉 My body is sore and I’d love to book a massage! I wouldn’t usually do Wednesday and Thursday back-to-back like I did, but I subbed a class on Wednesday + started a new class of my own on Thursday, so there ya go – the life of a fitness instructor!
On The Goals I Set
Rewind to last Friday, January 1. I set a few intentions, resolutions and goals, and talked about a three of them on the blog. (Read that post here.) At the top of the list was putting an end to my nightly glasses of vino, totally and completely, for six weeks. I’m happy to report that it’s been much easier than I anticipated! I didn’t crave a single glass of wine until Wednesday night (night 6) and so badly wanted it because my body was sore from working out and I knew a glass would take the edge off. Instead, I brewed some tea, put my legs up the wall and stayed strong. Fist bump! I have really been enjoying making tea at night!
I’ve been working on the other goals I mentioned on here, too!
Earlier that day, A came home from the gym (and stopping at the grocery store) with blackberries. He’s so cute. He was all, “and I got these organic blackberries so you can make blackberry pancakes in the morning!” mmhmmm, sure I’ll make ya pancakes, babe. 😉
And lets just say this: I have a major sugar addiction from drinking wine, so my evening sweet tooth has been out of control. The cookie dough that I made and froze from Christmas time has been coming out of the freezer on the reg. Need to put a stop to that ‘ish ASAP!
Goal for tonight/Saturday: Meal plan, grocery shop, prep. I used to do this religiously every week (years ago) and once I got divorced I just kinda stopped. My eats have been mostly sporadic and have included lots of eggs and lentil soup. (The lawyer was off lawyering this week – I find it challenging to have a set eating schedule when he’s not around. I just eat when I’m hungry.)
Randoms (as if this whole post isn’t)
I got a new computer for Christmas and it’s so amazing! I had a MacBook Pro from the Stone Age, so the fact that my phone will automatically sync with my computer over wifi has been outstanding. This go around I decided to get the Air instead of the Pro and the weight difference is unbelievable. Thank you, babe! The only thing I’m having an issue with is transferring all of my music over. Sigh. That’s prob the most important thing since I use music for classes e’ry day!
It has been incredibly rainy here in Southern California, many thanks to El Niño. Wednesday it was stormy, too, and apparently there was a tornado about 10 miles south of where we live, “NWS San Diego reported Wednesday afternoon that a tornado was spotted by several people in southern San Clemente near the Orange County and San Diego County border. One house was damaged, but NWS survey crews will have to view the area and determine whether it was a tornado or straight-line winds that swept through on Wednesday.” (source)
The girls go absolutely crazy when A comes home from a couple days in Vegas. I know the pic is blurry, but hopefully you can appreciate how adorable it is. <3
