Hi friends! How’s your Wednesday going? Mine has been great so far! I slept soundly last night and my alarm woke me up this morning, which doesn’t happen too often. Usually I’m awake well before it goes off. Needless to say, I was a little slow to get up this morning, but once I did I felt energized.
I subbed a ‘Cardio, Core and More’ class at a local gym today, which is essentially like a total body conditioning class like I used to teach back in the day. Think of it like Body Pump + HIIT training combined. Total body strength workout + cardio intervals. It was a good class and I was a sweaty mess when I left!
I stopped by the grocery store to get some chocolate after that class to take to my Restorative Yoga class. I know. My students were like, “Wait, what? You brought chocolate to yoga?” but they quickly changed their tune. We did a chocolate meditation and it was nice. I think they enjoyed it. I mean, who wouldn’t enjoy a piece of chocolate + a super relaxing yoga class complete with a gentle aromatherapy head massage?! Sign me up!
I ran a couple errands after class, came home fuuuungry and made myself some lunch while chatting on the phone with A. (Skillet potatoes + avocado + egg on top = my go to meal for any time of day.) I ate and cleaned up the kitchen and then took the girls for a long afternoon walk while talking to my sister on the phone. Finally, I showered at like 3pm and now here I am. 😉
I wanted to revisit Thrive Market and let you see what I got in my most recent order + follow up about the things from my initial order. (If you missed my first couple of posts about them, you can read them here and here. I love, love, love the concept and I’m sure we’ve already saved nearly $75. No joke. Like seriously, with just two orders. It’s crazy in the best way!)
First things first. My first order. There were a couple things I was on the fence about, but wanted to give a fair chance before deciding totally:
- this lotion which I had used before but couldn’t remember how I felt about it
- this mascara which I had never used before, but was trying to find a more affordable option to the mascara I loooove and have been using for years —> this one which I get from Amazon.
Verdict after using them for several weeks?
I’m gunna stick to what I know and love as far as lotion and mascara are concerned.
- I used all the lotion (finished the tube today) but cringed a little each time I slathered it on my body. It was too light for my liking—almost water-y-ish—and had a terrible aroma the more I used it. The scent I ordered was lavender mint, but all I could smell toward the last half of the bottle was alcohol. With that being said, I’m not done with this brand. I love their hand soap, albeit super expensive, and received a facial oil in my most recent shipment. I think that particular lotion is just not for me.
- I’m gunna be ordering my reg mascara from Amazon soon. The brand I got from Thrive Market seems okay, but the tube is compact which I don’t like and even after using it about 10 times, I feel like it’s just too goopy. Like there’s too much mascara on the brush, ya know? That usually happens every time I get a new mascara, but this seems excessive and is still happening and I’ve yet to put mascara on without getting it all over my eyelids. It’s quite possible I just need a beauty lesson. 😉
On the other hand, I’ve loved everything else! The conditioner is amazeballs and I have literally already blown through the entire tube of exfoliator, though, truth be told, I’ve been exfoliating like a mad woman trying to get me skin lookin’ all fine for our vacay.
The Latest Box
This most recent box was mostly things I needed straight away, with the exception of the bone broth, which I simply wanted to get to mix into the dog’s food (in addition to an actual meat) for an extra boost. They haven’t minded a bit … 😉Side note: I had no idea bone broth was such an awesome source of protein! I thought it was an awesome source of calcium, but I guess I was wrong. Tell me about your experiences with bone broth, please!I’ve been out of a carrier oil (other than coconut) for about a week, so I was very happy to have a full bottle of apricot oil arrive to blend with some essential oils. I also use a carrier oil + essential oils as my sole facial moisturizer, which is what the argan oil is for. I like to switch up my facial moisturizer on the reg, as different carriers oils have various benefits.
The hand soap at my sink in the bathroom was a couple squirts from empty —> enter Alaffia foaming soap. I’ve used this like five times in the past 24 hours and my initial thought it that it’s kinda drying but I’m not making that claim, yet. I’ll get back to ya. For reference, I’d been using Dr. Bronner’s hand soap, and simply wanted to experiment with something new.
Our sailing trip is in 1 week + 1 day. WHAT!? WHERE HAS THE TIME GONE?! And so obviously, we needed sunscreen and after sun because when you’re on a boat for the better part of 10 days, you need some sun care products, right?! I haven’t used either of these products specifically (though I have used their brand of chapstick) but I like the ingredient lists and will let you know how they work in a few weeks or so.Also, we needed a bar of soap to take on the yacht (<— why can I never spell that word correctly on the first try?), and what sounds more appropriate than coconut & papaya for a trip to the Caribbean? It smells wonderful, btw.I’ve never used that brand, but I’m sure it’ll be great!
Well, there ya have it! I’ll recap in a few weeks and let you know what I loved or what I didn’t love so much. I may have already loaded my Thrive cart with 24 more items, so there will be another post soon. I’m considering ordering one more time before we leave because A has convinced me one tube of sun screen isn’t enough + I’m out of exfoliator + he needs some mouth wash (he ended up liking the one I ordered a few weeks ago!), though we’ll probably just end up going to Whole Foods to grab the travel size stuffs we need.
If you want to check out Thrive Market, I certainly appreciate you using my affiliate link. <3 lots love from me to you!
Hope you have a wonderful evening!
