Preach, MLK Jr., preach!
Good morning, friends! Do you have today off in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day? Fitness instructors (or bloggers, for that matter) don’t usually get holidays off, but I haven’t been feeling all the great since Friday afternoon, so I got subs for my two spin classes + yoga class today.
I certainly feel much better this morning than I have in the last couple days, but I’m not 100% and accept that there’s no way I could make it through a spin or yoga class while not being able to breathe through my nose. 😉 Thankfully, my next scheduled class isn’t until tomorrow evening, giving me even more time to recover.
I’ve been taking elderberry syrup, using the neti-pot (<— which my fiancé cannot handle), drinking lots of juices + water and watching a whole lot of TV since it doesn’t require any physical effort. (We finished The Affair last night. OMG. Also, I started watching Homeland and I looooove it! We don’t usually watch a ton of TV unless one of us isn’t feeling too hot.)
Yesterday was so gorgeous that we ventured to the beach to soak up some rays and watch the ocean. When it’s 70 degrees in January, ya gotta go to the beach, if even for 20 minutes! We picked up some lunch from one of our favorite local taco shops, laid a Mexican blanket on the sand and enjoyed eating while watching the surfers in some fairly big waves. I thought it might make me feel a bit better to get outside, but we didn’t end up staying for long.
For now I’ll leave you with some photos of the past week. I hope you enjoy your day!
Check back later today for a post on healthy snack ideas!
I started pounding juices with lemon + ginger at the beginning of last week when The Surfer starting feeling crappy. He was sick for about 7 days – so I’m feeling lucky that it’s only been a few days for me and I’m already starting to improve!
Better late than never, right? 😉 This holiday card arrived last Monday. Love how my girlfriend addressed it!
The Surfer’s Friday morning breakfast. Mmhmm, he’s spoiled.
Pinterest dreaming. Really, though, we want to redo the bathrooms in our condo. Hopefully we can do at least one of them this year! They’ll both definitely be Asian-inspired. The current bathrooms have the original vanities (from 1979…), but luckily have updated tile and tubs, though we’ll be gutting the entire space. (See the first part of our condo tour series here.)
Coming home to notes like this never gets old!
Nor does the beach. 😉
