Wow! Just like that, another year has passed! I feel like an old lady when I think and type this, but time flies by so fast! I used to hear adults say that when I was a child, and I thought they were silly and overdramatic. But, as usual, I was wrong; they were right.
The year of 2015 was super eventful for me, both in the happiest and saddest, loveliest and baddest ways.
My love surprised me with a birthday trip to Napa. Swoon. We stayed at an adorable bed and breakfast in Calistoga and I dream of going back at least weekly! We hiked to Supai Falls in the Grand Canyon, which was absolutely gorgeous and physically demanding. I’d love to go back and do it all over again … with a lighter pack!I took A to Kansas to see where I grew up. He had tons of fun enjoying country life!In June, Anthony POPPED THE QUESTION! <—- Highlight of the year! And one of my awesome clients took some engagement photos for us!Shortly after we put an offer in on a condo in Southern California. While we were visiting family in Canada, everything progressed as needed, both parties agreed on everything, and we got a closing date. Closing doc’s got signed and before we knew it, we were California residents. And to be totally dramatic, literally as we were moving, my parents split up. (No picture needed!) It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done – to move into a new house in new town with a fiancé who still had to commute and parents and siblings going on an emotional roller coaster. I fell into a deep, dark depression for no less than three months, but more accurately four. Luckily, I knew what was going on and sought out the support I needed, but it was still damn hard. I don’t recommend that many life changing events at once. 😉
In the meantime, though, we enjoyed plenty of beach days in our new state! I let myself experience all the feels I was feeling, which of course included laying on the beach in the warm sand and allowing the sun to give me a snuggly hug.We welcomed many visitors and finally got our place completely settled by the end of November. Note: If you visited us any time before December, our condo looks 75% different! Things started looking up for me toward the end of November, after I made a trip home and secured a couple of teaching gigs in SoCal, and I was excited for my dad and A’s dad to visit for Christmas!
December was a happy and healthy month all around! A and I finally started exploring the local area even more and enjoyed finding a Christmas tree and decorating the house. I looooooved entertaining our dad’s while they were here – that’s totally my thing – and am excited for all the new year will offer!Daddy Paugh loves the beach as much as A does.Love of my life <3Our family unit on 12.25.2015
Cheer’s to a new year, which is bound to be full of love, laughter, and learning!
