Hi Friends! Happy Humpday! You’ve made it halfway through the week. ❤️ I thought it might be fun to do a day-in-the-life post and if you like them, I’ll continue to do them a couple times a month since each day is usually different!
A Day in the Life: Tuesday
6:45: I wake up and wonder why I feel so tired, then remember we didn’t go to bed until nearly midnight. I was transferring music from my old laptop so I can give it to my sister and A was working on his new business. I play around on my phone for a bit and try to wake up.
7:00: I finally roll outta bed and grab some coffee for myself (A was still sleeping), my laptop and come back to bed to start this post while drinking my java.
7:45: A’s still asleep, and I know we’re expecting a technician between 8-10 this morning, so I take some laundry down to the laundry room, come back and grab the girls and take them on their morning walk.
8:05: I get back inside and A says the tech is on his way! I love it when people show up at the beginning of the time frame for appointments like that.
8:10: A guy from Cox Internet came and upgraded our box 🙌🏾. We’ve been dealing with slow/no internet for far too long (actual months … feel the pain), and I’m glad we bit the bullet and decided to up our service to the next level. Since we both work from our computers day in and day out, and rely on the internet to work properly, it was basically a necessity.
8:15: I start making breakfast 🍳 by chopping one sweet potato and tossing it in the cast iron skillet, then throw it in the oven at 375.
8:25: I take more loads of laundry to the laundry room and start them. By the time I’m done with that, I put the first couple loads that I started earlier in the morning in the dryer. [If you’ll remember, we don’t have a W/D inside— and I get to walk all the laundry to the community laundry room—which isn’t far, but still, laundry be heavy]!
8:35: I begin to get the rest of the stuff out for breakfast. I browned 1/3 lb organic breakfast sausage in the skillet, drained the grease and set it off to the side. I get A’s eggs ready to be scrambled and my egg ready to be fried. I see we have 1/2 an avocado left and am stoked!
9:00: Breakfast is ready! I simply mixed the sweet potatoes in with the sausage (and added 1 tbsp maple syrup), put a fried egg on top of my portion and some avocado on the side. It’s so easy, really filling and quite tasty!
9:20: I head downstairs to check on the laundry. I fold a couple loads and throw the other stuff in the dryers. I come back upstairs.
9:35: I quickly vacuum, as we’re expecting a housekeeper to arrive and give us an estimate. I put away the laundry I brought up earlier, have a glass of green juice that A made yesterday and take care of the breakfast dishes.
10:00: We interviewed and hired a new housekeeper. Again, 🙌🏾. I let our last housekeeper go a few weeks ago after she failed to mop the floors (and that’s not all—was just the icing on the cake). We’re pretty tidy people and keep things picked up, but neither of us have the energy (me after teaching several classes a day and A after doing mentally draining law work) to do a deep cleaning as often as a small condo with two shedding pugs needs it. She’ll start next week and my bathrooms and kitchen are yelling in excitement! 😉 I’m so grateful we can afford this luxury. I am super productive in a clean space and super unmotivated/distracted/uneasy in a dirty space. It’s for the greater good, really.
10:15: I go back down to fold and get the rest of the laundry. I’m so glad A was here this morning because I text him and he comes to help me carry it all upstairs. There’s no way I’d have been able to do it in one trip.
10:45: I wash my face, brush my teeth (again) and freshen up a bit. I leave to get my eyebrows threaded and run a couple errands.
12:15: I get back home and ask A if he wants to go workout, and he says he does so I get dressed for the gym.
12:30: We still haven’t left. A asks if I want to go get something to eat first and I look at him like he has two heads. Seriously?! I thought we were going to the gym! He says he’s hungry, so I made an açaí smoothie to split and then we jetted.
1:00: I did some cardio on the spin bike and it felt glooooorious, especially after taking the last three days off due to being sick, and also pumped some iron 💪🏽.
2:30:We stop by Smash Burger (I know) and I introduce A to the goodness. I hadn’t had it for a couple years, and it was everything I was craving! I had baby spinach, tomato, red onion, cucumber + goat cheese on top of my burger and he tried the Classic Chicken Smasher.
2:50: We get home and eat.
3:00: I take the girls for an afternoon walk.
3:30: I hop in the shower.
4:00: I fetch my computer to continue working on this post, and try to decide if I’m going to take a yoga class tonight at 6:00 before I teach at 7:30.
4:30: A says he’s going to make a cup of coffee and I ask him to make me one, too. It’s rare that I’ll have a cup of coffee in the afternoon, but it sounds (and tasted) good.
4:35: He delivers my coffee to me (I was sitting on our bed working on the computer) and we chat about life while we enjoy our afternoon pick-me-up. About 30 minutes later, he’s decided he isn’t going to drive to Vegas tonight like he’d originally planned. I love it when he’s able to cut his Vegas trips down.
5:05: I do some blog-related research, and work away on my computer.
6:00: Well, clearly I didn’t make it to yoga!
6:10: I start to brainstorm what do cover in class tonight, and begin making a new playlist.
6:45: I get myself ready to teach, and leave in 20 minutes.
7:30: I teach an hour vinyasa yoga class.
8:30: I chat with a couple students for a bit before leaving the gym.
8:55: I get home and A still hasn’t had dinner and is hungry. I make us quesadillas. I’m relieved when he tells me he already took the girls on an evening walk.
9:20: We get ourselves ready for bed and call it a night. We had a 5 a.m. wake up call!
