Aren’t those blue eyes dreamy?
I was teaching yoga at a studio my friends (mother and daughter) owned. The daughter, Mandy, is also a lawyer and she and A each have an office in the same building. Being somewhat new to the single life, I wasn’t exactly sure how to date or where to meet guys. Read: I am not a club girl and am actually somewhat shy in real life if I don’t know you! Anyway, I was telling the girls how I was ready to meet somebody and have fun. They immediately told me about this guy who’d be “perfect” for me. At the same time, they were also telling him about this “cute yoga chick” he had to meet. It didn’t take long for their plan to come to life. The next Sunday, A showed up to my yoga class with his buddy. They were late and when they walked into the class, I knew he was the guy my friends had been telling me about. We had a brief conversation after class, but we were both shy and kept it simple.
Mandy’s birthday celebration was later that week (on a Wednesday to be exact). We went to karaoke to celebrate and A was there, too. He ‘cheers’ me a couple times with his Corona beer bottle, but our conversation didn’t go any deeper. Like I said, I’m shy.
The following Friday I went with my friends to yet another lawyer’s birthday celebration. I thought A was going to be there, but come to find out, he was in San Diego surfing. (His surfing = my yoga.) A few weeks went by before another retired lawyer friend was celebrating his birthday. At the party, A and I sat on the couch for a couple hours before my body told me vodka and red wine don’t mix well, and I abruptly left (with a DD, of course). During those couple hours, we chatted nonstop. The next day, Mandy text me and said that A had text her wanting my phone number, and she was curious if she should give it to him. I said yes and he instantly text me. I made him dinner the very next day (homemade pizza, which is a weekly staple over here now) and the rest is history. We’ve been inseparable ever since! We’ve been on many trips (most of them to Southern California) and moved in together after six short months of dating. Once ya know, ya know. We share a love for green juices, working out, hot yoga, red wine, the great outdoors, chocolate, the beach … and pretty much everything. He’s my main squeeze, my fish in the sea, my soulmate, the love of my life.
